Gen 9:23 commentary page hasn't updated yet, regardless of F5 efforts to refresh/reload. Will this eventually update itself? Is it a problem with transclusion pages? If so it puts a damper on my enthusiasm for Sunday school transclusion pages.... --RobertC 12:40, 4 Feb 2006 (UTC)

I checked again and it's updated now, there must just be some delay in the process, but it seems to be only a matter of a few hours--not bad. --RobertC 19:01, 4 Feb 2006 (UTC)
Did you try ctrl-f5. On IE that is a little different than F5 in that it forces the cache to be cleared. --Matthew Faulconer 05:27, 5 Feb 2006 (UTC)
Yep, CTRL-F5, ALT-F5, WIN-F5, SHIFT-F5 and every possible combination! Actually, it wasn't till I logged in from another computer that I convinced myself it wasn't a just browser caching problem.... --RobertC 15:58, 5 Feb 2006 (UTC)
I agree if you saw the problem on another computer than it is not a browser caching problem. --Matthew Faulconer 16:37, 5 Feb 2006 (UTC)
I did some testing. Here's how I would describe the problem.
When a page is loaded with a transclusion, then if the transcluded page is changed, the original page with the transclusion is not updated until either a) a certain amount of time passes or b) the page with the transclusion is updated directly.
Is this accurate? If so I think the problem is how the squid cache and transclusion work together. The squid cache doesn't know to purge the old version of the page when a transclusion on the page changes. --Matthew Faulconer 16:50, 5 Feb 2006 (UTC)
Sounds about right to me, though I didn't read about Squid caching (no time now, headed out...). --RobertC 17:06, 5 Feb 2006 (UTC)
Do you have enough experience to say with confidence how long it takes for the page with transclusion to be updated? Is it consistent? --Matthew Faulconer 06:07, 6 Feb 2006 (UTC)
No, I don't have enough experience to say if it's consistent. I'll keep you posted when I start playing with the SS transclusion pages and learn more. I think it was a couple hours before the transclusion page automatically updated this last time I was playing with it. --RobertC 16:00, 6 Feb 2006 (UTC)
