Talk:3 Ne 6:1-7:26
Verses 7:1-5[edit]
As I was pondering in why we as people try always to get a king or a leader, I came to the conclusion that we live to the minumun effort and we dont like to take responsibility for the things that we do. So we appoint someone to guide and if something happens we just turn an blame the leader.
Another theory that I have is that we have this embedded feeling to follow someone (God), but with our agency we decide to serve others.

The Nephite government came to an end and split into many tribes. It's interesting that they didn't break out into open war like America did during the civil war. --User:Jmsears 11 Dec 2005
Verses 7:11-15[edit]
On Talk:Gen 3:11-15 I noted that I feel like I need some help understanding how to make sense of our hatred for evil which is God given but (I believe) is often used against us to lead us to commit sin. I was hoping that this passage in 3 Nephi might shed some light but I feel like I'm not able to take it to completion at this point.

Maybe something for this enmity discussion...hatred may be good if it serves as a barrier, ie. maintains distance between you and the thing you hate. When it leads you to attack the thing you hate (breaking down that barrier), it is a bad thing. We are to hate evil, but not to fight against it. When you fight against it, you become enmeshed in the evil yourself and may give it strength. The Lord commands us to resist evil by doing good, not by attacking it. Lots of scriptures on this, but I'm in a time crunch right now. Thanks for the interesting invitation to think about enmity... Rob Fergus 21:47, 29 Jul 2005 (CEST)
Rob, thanks for the help. I don't have much time now either but I do want to look through some of the scriptures that tell us how to resist evil. If you end up having time to post some I'd be interested in seeing your favorites. --Matthew Faulconer 00:06, 31 Jul 2005 (CEST)
