- The Joseph Smith quote might be a little misplaced in the question for v. 3, but I thought I'd leave it in b/c it's in Jim Faulconer's original SS lesson material. Besides, I thought someone else might think of an appropriate place for it, so I didn't want to just cut it.... --RobertC 23:41, 17 Sep 2005 (CEST)
- I was looking up the word "free" in Webster's 1828 dictionary and it has "Heb." listed after the entry. Does anyone have any idea what that means? At first I thought it mean the word was of Hebrew origin, but it seems to come from the Indo-European root "pri". Any ideas?? --RobertC 01:04, 18 Sep 2005 (CEST)
- As far as I know, the abbreviation "Heb." only refers to Hebrew. None of the Hebrew words for free, either ancient or modern, bear any resemblance to the English 'free'. --Steven Barton 03:16, 18 Sep 2005 (CEST)
- Thanks, I didn't think there was any etymological connection. Such a mystery to me why there'd by a reference to Hebrew in that entry. I'd like to look it up in a hard-copy of the dictionary sometime, see if there isn't some explanation somewhere.... Maybe the book of Hebrews?? --RobertC 06:16, 18 Sep 2005 (CEST)
- The Lexical note on verse 2 concerning a parallel between verses at he beginning and verses at the end triggers a thought that maybe the entire chapter has a chiastic structure. Worth exploring as it may reveal answers to your many questions. - Jesse 16:06, 6 March 2010 (CET)
