But if against my will (v. 17)

My sense is that this is significantly related to apostolos ("delegate") in 1 Cor 9:1 and douloo ("servant") in 1 Cor 9:19. That is, Paul is chooses to preach the gospel, he is doing it as a slave/servant/delegate of Christ.

I'm quite curious though how this might be related to the other "household of faith" passages I cited. My guess is that the metaphor is consistent across these various passages: God's household is one where the servants are faithful and ordered according to the master's plan.... --RobertC 04:14, 21 Dec 2006 (UTC)
