Christ is the author of all great miracles.  While he was on earth he taught the principle that "by their fruits ye shall know them."  Using this understanding, the angel said to look to Christ and His miracles because by seeing the miracles or the fruits that he brought, we know that He is good.  And by knowing what miracles He did, we can more easily recognize the miracles that He still performs for us today.  I believe that many of us as members of the church tend to forget and not recognize the great miracles that are performed for us or through us each and every day.  God is still a God of miracles, and the miracles have not ceased.

Questions

  • Why would an angel choose to appear to someone who was asleep, rather than awake (verse 2)? What other instances do we have of such appearances?
  • What does the phrase "from all eternity to all eternity" mean (verse 5)? Is that the same as saying "forever," or might it have an alternate meaning?
  • Why would the angel begin his account of Christ's earthly ministry by emphasizing the miracles he would perform (verse 5)? As members of His Church, do we spend enough time discussing the miracles that transpire in our own work and ministry?

And by knowing what miracles He did, we can more easily recognize the miracles that He still performs for us today. I believe that many of us as members of the church tend to forget and not recognize the great miracles that are performed for us or through us each and every day. God is still a God of miracles, and the miracles have not ceased.
